Cooperative Forest Management Forester of The Year!
Congratulations to Jim White, Bennington County Forester for being selected as the 2004 Cooperative Forest Management Forester of the Year. The executive committee of the Northeastern State Foresters Association selected Jim from other nominees of county and service foresters within the Northeastern twenty states. The Northeastern
area represents the area from Maine to Minnesota, and Missouri to Maryland. The Forest Resource Program Leaders are the group of program managers in the various states that manage the Stewardship program across the Northeast.
Applicants for the CFM award are judged on their contributions to multiple-use forestry, the profession as a whole and community affairs. Since becoming county forester in 1968, Jim has made his mark in each of those areas. He is a very down to earth likeable guy who has a lot of knowledge and advice to offer, along with seemingly endless motivation.
A congratulations picnic was recently held for Jim at the Arlington Recreation Park where Jim was presented with gifts and heartfelt thank yous. Approximately 150 of Jim's friends and colleagues attended the BBQ picnic.
